The Priest House wedding - Farida and Andy

This was always going to be one of my favourite weddings to photograph as the bride and groom are friends of mine so I knew it was going to be a great day. Farida and I met through friends years ago and have shared lots of adventures – even surfing around Spain back in the day. I was really pleased to then meet Andy a few years later – a really cool guy and very talented musician.

Though the pair of them are really chilled out, neither enjoy being in front of a camera very much. They both decided to avoid too many “up close and personal” photographs on their big day. They weren’t interested in the “getting ready” shots and instead wanted more of the evening celebrations capturing. I’m happy to be flexible and change things as the day progresses.

The Venue: The Priest House in Castle Donington

The ceremony and celebrations were held at The Priest House wedding Venue in Castle Donington. This wedding venue has been established for a long time so they really know what they are doing. The stunning country house situated on the banks of the River Trent provided the perfect backdrop for their dream day.  As a Derbyshire Photographer, I have seen a lot of venues but this will always be one of my favourites. The beautiful mill wheels and stone tower house perfectly suited the charm and romance of this very English wedding. The great thing about this venue is the gorgeous hotel means that guests can stay and really relax and enjoy the day.

It was a crisp October day and there was a definite chill in the air but it stayed dry for Farida and Andy. This made it possible for us to take advantage of the gorgeous river-side setting and woodland walks for some great pictures. The sweetest part of the day for me was listening to the beautiful vows the couple had written. Call me a big softy but I even had a little cry. However, I have to admit my favourite part was Andy getting a face full of cake. I even managed to capture it on film – priceless.
