Meet this adventurous Derby couple who left the city and all its stresses behind, drove to Mallorca one week before their wedding and had the time of their lives.
Mallorca wedding
We met Gemma at the Roundhouse wedding fair in Derby. We were thrilled when an email arrived expressing interest in us for a destination wedding in Mallorca. The next few moments were spent scrolling through pictures of what can only be described as paradise. Also, we spent some few moments searching for available properties and wedding photographer job vacancies in Mallorca!! Needless to say, we quickly arranged a sit-down meeting with the happy couple and soon everything was sorted. Next stop: One of the most beautiful and welcoming places we have ever been to. To join us on the journey, just keep reading…
About Mallorca
It’s honestly so difficult to know where to begin. The couple chose a location renowned for its sweeping scenic views, delicious cuisine, idyllic weather, all coupled with the laid-back customs of the countryside. No one is in a hurry, which was perfect because it allowed everyone to savour each and every moment of the day. Mallorca holds a special place in their hearts after many years of family holidays spent there.
We have now added this incredible island to our list of places to revisit, if for no other reason than the fact that Leigh loved the “Honesty Bar” at many hotels! Can you believe that there are still places in the world where an honesty box is left out for you to take your own drink and leave the money ???
If you have spent hours searching for the perfect place for your destination wedding, perhaps Mallorca is the place for you! This slice of paradise truly has something for everyone – beaches, villages, mountains and then driving through the small village of Alaró, you might even get a visit from one of the local ostriches! What more could you ask for?!
Now that we’ve set the stage, let’s move on to what we’ve all been waiting for…
Finca Son Berga
For the ceremony the couple chose the 13th century Parish of Sant Bartomeu. What a backdrop it provided for the moment these two became husband and wife! A special highlight of the ceremony was the accompanying choir. We love it when a couple’s story intertwines with such historical places.
The celebration then moved to Finca Son Berga, a beautifully restored estate dating back to the 16thcentury. Surrounded by the historic beauty, breathtaking views of vineyards, olive trees and the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains, you could not ask for a more perfect setting.
Now it was our job to capture the mood and moments with each click of the camera. Many couples often tell us that they do not like their pictures taken. Believe it or not, James did not want his photos taken on his wedding day! But, yes, he finally surrendered to our lenses and the result are amazing! Thank you, James, for giving in!!
Every time we think about Gemma and James’ wedding, we see flashes of laughter, big hugs and the two of them surrounded by those whom they love most and breathtaking scenery.
So, if you, and really who doesn’t, love sunshine, stunning scenery in every direction and a laid-back vibe that permeates each moment, allowing for fun and laughter, then take a cue from Gemma and James. We are sure that you won’t regret it!
